Holy reading! Look no further for the ultimate page-turner (that’s right, the Bible!)
This book has sold more copies, been translated into more languages and is found in more hotel rooms than any other literary work in history. (Take that, Dickens!) But how many of us have actually read it? Or really thought about the stories, characters and parables inside or outside of a religious context? Kathleen speaks with Dr. Jeffrey Geoghegan, Associate Professor of Biblical Studies at Boston College whose professional mission is to make the Bible meaningful and understandable for everyone, regardless of religious affiliation.
If you've ever wondered how the Bible influences everything from art to literature to legislation, this is your chance to learn more. Dr. Geoghegan cuts the controversy and shares everything from the Bible's historical context and juiciest stories to how it continues to shape our society today.
Dr. Jeffrey C. Geoghegan is Associate Professor of Biblical Studies at Boston College. He received his Ph.D. in Ancient History from the University of California San Diego, where he taught courses on everything from Socrates to Shakespeare. A lover of history and literature, he has made the study of the Bible and the ancient near east his professional preoccupation. Jeff has authored a number of books including The Bible for Dummies, a guide to understanding the basics of the Good Book in layman's (and woman's) terms.
